Hosting the largest Rocks & Rings tournament is a big (and fun!) task. Youth curlers from the Stroud Curling Club joined us to help make the tournament such a huge success.
These curlers volunteered their time to give back to the sport they love by showing hundreds of grade 2 and 3 students curling with the Rocks & Rings program. The curlers kept smiling all day and were happy to answer questions about curling.
When we asked two of the curlers, Kris (pictured above) and Isabella, about their favourite thing about curling, Kris responded “Everything! Anyone can do it at any age.” Isabella added “I like the atmosphere in competitive and non-competitive games.” Kris felt it was important to help out with the Rocks & Rings tournament because “the more people we have in curling the better. It keeps the sport going on longer.”
We think that they may see some of the 800 students who participated in the Rocks & Rings tournament come out to try the sport on ice at the Stroud Curling Club sometime soon.
A big thank you to all the youth curlers who joined us March 20th to share their love of curling with 800 excited students!
