This school year presented us all with challenges we never saw coming. With so many students moving to online learning due to the ongoing pandemic, educators have had to shift their way of thinking and look for innovative new resources. Our collective goal was to provide students with education from a distance that would be just as enriching as classroom learning. This means that Rocks & Rings had to find a new way to introduce students across Canada to the sport of curling without being physically present. We achieved this in two ways: by adding a rental program for schools that were allowed in-class learning but no outside visitors, and by introducing a free virtual resource of curriculum-based learning with a curling theme called Rocks & Rings “In The Classroom”.
The introduction of these two new programs has been a huge success. Educators across Canada took advantage of the rental program so that students could try curling in their school gym using FloorCurl equipment and complemented their rentals with our In The Classroom resources, continuing the curling theme from the gym to the classroom.
Since launching the programs, we have received extremely positive feedback from coast to coast, so we have decided to keep them going – for good!
We have also enhanced our programs with some wonderful new features such as new games and activities to complement your rental. Wheelchair curling equipment and resources will also be included with all rentals and instructional programs to promote inclusivity and ensure students of all abilities can participate.
We are now taking bookings for Rentals as well as our traditional instructional Rocks & Rings program for the 2021-22 school year. With the Winter Olympics coming up in February, dates will fill up fast. Book now to reserve your spot!
