It was an average school day — math, writing, art, and gym. But wait, something different was happening in gym class! Thomas, a student in Vancouver, first discovered the sport of curling when Egg Farmers Rocks & Rings presented by Curling Canada visited his school.
He immediately became enamoured with the game and wanted to keep playing. After his gym class experience, Thomas headed out to the Vancouver Curling Club to try the sport on ice.
He was hooked!
Thomas is now in his second season of curling at the Vancouver Curling Club. We asked Thomas questions about Rocks & Rings and his curling experience to learn more about why he fell in love with curling. Thomas’ favourite part of Rocks & Rings was the broom and sweeping exercises. Egg Farmers Rocks & Rings presented by Curling Canada features fun drills, including a “Hurry/Woah” sweeping activity similar to Red Light/Green Light!
Thomas wanted to try curling on ice because he had so much fun doing Rocks & Rings. Similarly, when asked “If you had to tell your friends why they should join curling what would you say?”, he replied, “because it’s fun!”.
Perhaps Thomas has plans to skip in the future, his favourite thing about curling is the strategy!
We are so excited that he fell in love with curling with Egg Farmers Rocks & Rings presented by Curling Canada. We wish Thomas all the best in his future curling endeavours.
